Account and security

Open the General tab. In the Account Information card you’ll find two fields: Name and Email. Change either one and select Save Changes. SILWise saves the change immediately, with no email confirmation step, and records it in your organisation’s activity log.

If you update your email, sign in with the new one next time. There’s no grace period where both the old and new address work.

Open the Security tab. Under Password, fill in Current Password, New Password and Confirm New Password (all at least 8 characters), then select Update Password.

SILWise checks three things before it saves the change:

  • Your Current Password must be correct.
  • Your New Password must be different from your current one.
  • New Password and Confirm New Password must match exactly.

If any of these fail, SILWise tells you which one, and your password stays unchanged.

Further down the Security tab, under Delete Account, is where you close your own account for good. Enter your password in Confirm Password and select Delete Account.

This is a real deletion, not an archive, and it cannot be undone. The moment you confirm it:

  • You’re removed from your organisation’s membership immediately. Nothing else about the organisation changes: its houses, participants, cost centres and scenarios stay exactly as they were, and any other members keep their access.
  • Your login is switched off permanently. Your email address is freed up in case anyone wants to sign up with it again later, but your old account itself can never be recovered or reactivated.
  • You’re signed out and sent back to the sign-in screen.

You’re the only Owner and other people are still in the organisation. SILWise refuses the deletion and asks you to make another member an Owner first. This protects everyone else: without an owner, nobody could invite anyone, remove anyone, or manage billing, and all the houses, participants and scenarios would sit there unmanageable. Go to Org Settings, select Make owner next to the person taking over, then come back and delete your account. See members and roles.

You’re the last person in the organisation and it’s on a paid plan. SILWise refuses the deletion until you cancel the plan. Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription on its own, and once your account is gone nobody can reach the Billing page to stop it, so your card would keep being charged. Cancel on the Billing page first, then delete your account. Cancelling costs you nothing: you keep the plan you have already paid for until the end of the month.

The deletion goes ahead, and any invitations you have sent that nobody has accepted yet are cancelled at the same time. Your organisation’s houses, participants, cost centres and scenarios stay in the database, but nobody can sign in to reach them. If you ever sign up again with the same email address you get a brand-new, empty organisation, not your old one back.
