Members and roles
What an organisation is
Section titled “What an organisation is”Everything you do in SILWise belongs to one organisation: every house, participant, scenario and calculation. When you first create your account, SILWise sets up an organisation for you automatically and makes you its Owner. Anyone you invite afterwards joins that same organisation and works with the same houses and data, not a separate copy.
Every person in your organisation has a role that controls what they can do.
| Role | Can do |
|---|---|
| Owner | Everyday work across houses, participants, calculations and scenarios, plus inviting Org Members, removing them, making another member an Owner, and managing billing and the subscription plan. |
| Admin | Everyday work, plus managing billing and the subscription plan. Cannot invite or remove Org Members. |
| Member | Everyday work only. Cannot manage billing, and cannot invite or remove Org Members. |
SILWise recognises an Admin role, but the Invite Org Member form only offers Member or Owner when you invite someone.
Invite someone
Section titled “Invite someone”Only an Owner can invite new people. On the Org Settings page, fill in the Invite Org Member form: enter their Email, choose a Role of Member or Owner, then select Invite Member.
SILWise records the invitation against that email address and shows a confirmation message. It doesn’t send an automatic email yet, so let the person know directly that you’ve invited them. They must accept the invitation itself - if they create an account on their own instead, that starts a separate organisation rather than joining yours.
Make someone an owner
Section titled “Make someone an owner”Only an Owner can change someone’s role, and the only change available is making another person an Owner. On the Org Settings page, find them in the Org Members list and select Make owner.
Do this before you leave the organisation yourself. SILWise will not let the only Owner delete their account while other people are still in the organisation, because that would leave nobody able to invite, remove or manage billing.
There is no way to take the Owner role back off someone afterwards. If you need to, remove them from the organisation and invite them again with the role you want.
Remove someone
Section titled “Remove someone”Only an Owner can remove a person from the organisation. Find them in the Org Members list and select Remove next to their name.
Removing someone only ends their access to SILWise. Every house, participant, calculation and scenario they worked on belongs to the organisation, not to them personally, so none of it is deleted or changed. Membership changes like this are recorded in the activity log, so you can always see who invited or removed whom, and when.
Billing and your role
Section titled “Billing and your role”Only an Owner or an Admin can manage the organisation’s subscription plan. A Member can view the current plan, but can’t change it or update payment details.
If you are the only owner
Section titled “If you are the only owner”SILWise will not let the only Owner delete their account while other people are still in the organisation. Make someone else an Owner first, then delete your account. The same rule applies to the Remove button: the last remaining Owner cannot be removed from the organisation.
If the only Owner has already left and nobody else holds that role, nobody can invite or remove members, or manage billing. Check the Org Members list first for anyone else who still holds the Owner role. If no one does, contact tomt@agentmail.to for help regaining access.
