Glossary

• Benchmark - the Centrelink-based limit on what a provider can charge a participant for rent, board or both, worked out from their payment profile; see Centrelink benchmarks.
• Board - the fortnightly charge for a participant’s food and other running costs, as distinct from rent, capped separately under Centrelink benchmarks.
• Calc date - the date you choose for a calculation, which decides which Centrelink rate version SILWise applies.
• Cost centre - one running cost line for a house, such as electricity or gardening, held in a cost-centre set; see cost centres and sets.
• Cost-centre set - a named library of cost-centre lines that a house links to, so several houses can share one agreed set of prices; see cost centres and sets.
• Draft - a calculation that has not yet been saved and can still be changed freely, before it becomes a scenario; see scenarios.
• DSP - the Disability Support Pension, the one Centrelink payment every participant is assumed to receive.
• House - a property in SILWise that holds its own rent, participants and cost-centre set; see houses and bedrooms.
• Organisation - the SILWise account for your provider; it owns every house, participant and cost-centre set, and everyone you invite joins it.
• Participant - a person living in a house, whose meals, consumables and Centrelink payments SILWise tracks; see participants.
• Participant bedroom - a bedroom counted as available for a participant to live in, used to split a house’s rent; see houses and bedrooms.
• Payment profile - the record of which Centrelink payments a participant receives and at what rate; see payment profiles.
• Provider contribution - what your organisation puts towards a participant’s rent and costs instead of charging them in full.
• Rent - the fortnightly charge for a participant’s share of a house’s accommodation cost, split across its participant bedrooms; see houses and bedrooms.
• Scenario - a saved calculation, locked with the figures, Centrelink rates and calculation rules that produced it; see scenarios.
• SDA - Specialist Disability Accommodation, a Yes/No registration status recorded on a house.
• Subsidy - a percentage you apply to a participant’s rent or a cost-centre line to have your organisation cover that share instead.
